No offense meant to anyone, but it's surprising to me that Pound has the highest graduation percentage. Does anyone else find that a little interesting?
From an article in the Kingsport Times News, the high school graduation rates for Wise County High Schools are:
Pound 89.06 percent
J.J. Kelly 88.28
Coeburn 84.24
Powell Valley 84.24
St. Paul 77.27
Appalachia 75
It's ironic how the consolidation opponents from the two smallest schools are always arguing that small is better, yet they have the worst graduation rates in the county. So exactly how is it better?

I wouldn't call it surprising. It's very much in line with the top 4.
Out of curiosity, why would you think Pound should have a lower graduation rate?
Although the entire county's graduation rates are considerably higher than the national rate (about 70%), they're still disappointing numbers (to me at least).

Plus if you have similar numbers drop out, the percentages will be higher in the smaller schools.

I seem to always hear jokes/insults about how redneck-ish Pound's fans are, how backwards Pound is, that they're less intelligent because they're close to the KY border, etc. These aren't jokes I've made or that I agree with, but they're just what I've heard every now and then. After hearing those generalizations, it would make you think Pound would be way down there with Appalachia in the low graduation rates. Guess that poll proves it wrong by a longshot!
You'll shoot your eye out.

Glad to see Pound win at something.
I'd like to see these figures for all the schools around here.
I wonder how WC stacks up against DC and SC.
National average is 70%
I found 81.8% for ****enson county va on a couple of sites, not sure if they're the real deal though.
You'll shoot your eye out.
